The end feed wallplate elbow is one of those fittings you reach for without thinking twice on any bathroom or kitchen first fix. This 15mm x 1/2″ female iron version connects a 15mm copper pipe run to a half-inch female threaded outlet mounted flush against the wall, making it the go-to choice when bringing a supply pipe out of the wall to feed a bath tap, basin tap, or washing machine valve. WRAS approved, so it meets the Water Regulations Advisory Scheme requirements for use in potable water systems across the UK. That matters whether you are working on a new build, a full bathroom refurb, or a straightforward tap replacement.

End feed fittings are solder fittings, which means they rely on capillary action to draw solder into the joint. There is no pre-loaded solder ring here, so you control exactly how much solder goes in. For experienced plumbers this is often the preferred approach: cleaner joints, no guessing whether the ring has fully flowed, and generally a more reliable result when the prep work is done properly. Flux, clean copper, heat applied correctly, and the solder feeds in a treat. Get any of those wrong and you will know about it fairly quickly, usually at the wrong moment.

Where the End Feed Wallplate Elbow Gets Used

The wallplate backplate gives you a fixing point directly onto the wall, which is the detail that sets this fitting apart from a standard elbow. Rather than having a loose pipe end poking out of plasterboard or masonry, the backplate screws to the wall surface and holds everything steady. This is particularly useful under kitchen units, behind bath panels, and inside airing cupboards where the pipework needs to be anchored before a tap connector or valve is tightened onto it. Without a fixed backplate, tightening the tap connector would stress the soldered joint on the copper pipe, and that is a leak waiting to happen.

The 15mm pipe size is the standard domestic supply size for hot and cold runs throughout most UK properties, and the 1/2″ BSP female thread is the standard connection found on the vast majority of tap tails and valve bodies. This combination covers the overwhelming majority of bathroom and kitchen plumbing scenarios you will encounter day to day.

Sold individually, so you can order exactly what you need for the job rather than working through a box of ten to find the two you actually wanted.

Pro Tip: Before soldering the wallplate elbow into position, fix the backplate to the wall first and double-check the pipe is sitting fully home in the fitting socket, any gap in the pipe insertion and the capillary joint will not form correctly.
