TORX – Impact Driver Bits – TX20 x 25 (10 pcs)
£5.80£6.96 EX VATINC VAT
TX20 impact driver bits built for high-torque tools. Heat-treated alloy construction handles peak torque without snapping, with a black phosphate finish for corrosion resistance. Sold in packs of 10.
TX20 impact driver bits that actually last. If you have ever snapped a cheap bit halfway through a decking job or watched the tip round off on the third screw, you already know why the material and heat treatment matter. These TX20 impact driver bits are manufactured using a new-generation alloy specifically formulated to handle the torque peaks that high-powered impact drivers throw at them, which are considerably more violent than anything a standard drill-driver produces.
The heat treatment process is worth understanding. The tip is hardened to grip the fastener head cleanly, but the body of the bit is left slightly softer by design. That deliberate difference in hardness means the bit can flex and absorb shock under load rather than transmitting it all directly to the tip. The result is a bit that holds its shape under repeated use instead of snapping at the worst possible moment, usually when you are three metres up a scaffold with no spares to hand.
Why These TX20 Impact Bits Hold Up Where Standard Bits Fail
Standard screwdriver bits are hardened uniformly. That works fine for hand tools and lower-torque drills, but impact drivers operate differently. They deliver rotational force in sharp, rapid bursts rather than a steady turn. A uniformly hard bit cannot flex with those bursts, so it either cracks at the shank or strips at the tip. These bits are engineered specifically for that impact loading, which is why the difference in practice is noticeable immediately.
The black phosphate coating keeps corrosion at bay, which matters if your bits live in a site bag or a damp van drawer. It is not just cosmetic. Phosphate coatings provide a degree of surface protection that bare steel simply does not have.
Supplied in Packs of 10
Sold in a pack of 10 at a price that makes it sensible to keep a spare set in the bag. TX20 is one of the most commonly used Torx sizes on timber decking screws, composite cladding fixings and a wide range of chipboard and MDF screws, so running out on site is a frustration you can easily avoid. At this quantity and price, there is no good reason to be working with a single bit that is already starting to show wear.
Pro Tip: Always seat the bit fully into the fastener head before applying power, a half-engaged TX20 tip will round out the socket in one or two impacts and make the screw almost impossible to remove cleanly.
