ForgeFast tongue and groove screws are purpose-built for one job: fixing T&G floorboards to timber joists cleanly, quickly, and without splitting the tongue. If you’ve ever snapped a board tongue or ended up with a screw head that prevents the next board from sitting flush, you’ll understand why a dedicated flooring screw matters. These are not general-purpose screws repurposed for flooring work.

The 3.5 x 45mm size hits the standard sweet spot for most domestic and commercial tongue and groove installations. At 45mm, there’s enough thread engagement into the joist without over-penetrating, and the 3.5mm diameter keeps things tidy through the tongue.

What Makes ForgeFast Elite Flooring Screws Different

The reduced head with ribbed underhead lobes self-countersinks as it drives, sitting flush and out of the way so the next board drops straight in. No grinding back a proud head, no awkward fiddle with a countersink bit. The six angled lobes do the work.

The double cutting point reduces the risk of splitting the tongue on entry, and the anti-split, fast-start thread picks up quickly without requiring pre-drilling. For a floor layer working across a large area, this adds up to a noticeably faster day. Molecular lubrication is applied to reduce drive friction further, so you’re not fighting the screw even on a long run.

A Torx compatible recess handles higher torque transmission than a standard Pozi or Phillips, which means less cam-out and less screw-head damage. The serrated cutting thread gives a firmer pull-out resistance once home, so the boards stay tight even as the floor takes foot traffic over time.

Elementech 400 corrosion protection means these screws are suitable for use in environments where a degree of moisture exposure is likely, including ground floor installations over unventilated voids.

Pro Tip: Drive the screw at a slight angle through the tongue, around 45 degrees toward the joist face, to maximise pull-out resistance and keep the head fully concealed once the next board is fitted.
