Standard pozi screwdriver bits that are actually made to last. These S2 heat-treated steel bits cover the sizes you reach for every day on site, from a compact No.1 x 25mm for tight cabinet work right up to a No.4 x 25mm for heavier fixings. If you’ve ever snapped a cheap bit mid-drive and sent a screw spinning into the floor void, you’ll understand why the steel grade matters. S2 is the right choice for trade use, full stop.

The 1/4″ hex shank fits any standard bit holder, impact driver or drill driver without faffing around. Precision machined tips mean the bit seats properly in the screw head rather than rocking about and camming out the first time you lean on it. That’s not a minor point when you’re putting in fifty screws before lunch.

Where Standard Pozi Bits Earn Their Keep

Pozi drive is everywhere on UK sites. Decking screws, MDF fixings, joinery, carcass assembly, electrical back boxes, general maintenance work. The cross-shaped recess with those extra angled slots gives you better engagement than a plain Phillips and less likelihood of slipping under load. The No.2 x 25mm is probably the single most-used bit in any tradesperson’s pouch, but the 50mm and 110mm lengths are worth keeping to hand when you need reach into recesses or are working through packing pieces.

Having a few spares in the bag is just sensible. Bits are consumables. They wear, they get dropped into cavities, they occasionally end up in the back of a van never to be seen again. Buying in packs of 5 or 10 means you’re not hunting around for a replacement at 7:30 in the morning.

S2 Steel: What It Means in Practice

S2 is a shock-resistant tool steel that handles the torsional stress of driving screws far better than cheaper alloys. Heat treatment after machining brings the hardness up without making the tip brittle, so you get durability without snapping clean off mid-drive. The finish also offers reasonable resistance to surface corrosion when left in a tool bag between jobs.

These standard pozi screwdriver bits are the kind of thing you buy once in a sensible quantity and stop thinking about. Simple, reliable, the right material. That’s what you actually want from a bit.

Pro Tip: Keep a No.2 x 50mm bit in your impact driver at all times rather than the 25mm, the extra length gives you much better control on long screws and keeps your knuckles away from the workpiece.
