The Faithfull 35W LED tripod site light is a solid, practical solution for anyone who needs reliable task lighting on site without the faff of replacing bulbs or worrying about burn hazards. At 3600 lumens from a 35W SMD LED unit, this puts out a serious amount of light for the wattage, and at 6,500K colour temperature it gives you a clean, daylight-white output that makes it easy to see what you are actually doing. If you have ever tried colour-matching paint or checking a measurement under a warm-toned halogen, you will appreciate the difference.
SMD LEDs — Surface Mounted Device LEDs — pack a lot of individual light-emitting chips into a small area, which is why they produce such a high lumen output relative to the power they draw. They are also considerably more resilient than halogen tubes, which have a nasty habit of failing the moment a light gets knocked over on site. The SMD unit in this Faithfull tripod light is behind an impact-resistant glass lens, and the head itself is cast from die-cast aluminium, so it is not going to fold the first time something walks into it.
Faithfull Tripod Site Light: Practical Features That Matter on Site
The lamp head is IP44 rated, which means it can handle splashing water and dust ingress. That covers most outdoor work environments and the average UK construction site, though it is worth being sensible about it — more on that below. The head is fully adjustable, so you can aim the 120° beam where it is actually needed rather than just pointing it at the ceiling and hoping for the best.
Height adjustment runs from 1010mm up to 2000mm, handled by two twist grip locks on the tubular steel tripod. It is quick to set up, quick to move, and the slim profile of the head means it is not going to take up half the back of a van. The unit comes supplied with 2.5m of cable fitted with a BS-approved plug, ready to go.
Both 110V and 240V versions are available, which makes this a genuinely flexible bit of kit whether you are working from a site transformer or a standard mains supply. LED lifetime is rated at up to 50,000 hours — at eight hours a day, every working day, that is getting on for seventeen years. You are unlikely to be worrying about replacement bulbs.
Pro Tip: At 6,500K the light output is essentially daylight white, which is ideal for spotting defects in plaster, paint or tiling that warmer lighting would hide completely.
