A heavy duty sealant cartridge gun that actually holds up to daily site use is harder to find than you’d think. This one is built around an aluminium body rather than the cheap pressed steel you get on budget guns, and the difference is immediately obvious when you pick it up. The Teflon-coated stainless steel nozzle makes the thing genuinely easier to clean, which matters when you’re working with gun-grade expanding foam and you’d rather not leave it to cure solid before you’ve finished the job.

Gun-grade expanding foam is a different animal to the aerosol stuff. Better yield, more control, less waste, and you can stop mid-bead without losing the rest of the cartridge. But it needs a proper applicator gun to work well, and this is where a well-made cartridge gun earns its keep. The trigger mechanism gives you real control over flow rate, so you’re not fighting the gun to avoid overfilling a cavity or flooding a frame joint.

Where This Cartridge Gun Fits Into Your Work

The main use is gun-grade PU expanding foam for fixing frames, filling around pipes and cables, insulating gaps in blockwork, and general draught and air-sealing work. Window and door installers reach for this kind of tool every day. So do dry-liners, carpenters fixing studwork, and anyone sealing around service penetrations in floors or walls. The aluminium body keeps the weight down on longer sessions without sacrificing feel, and the Teflon coating on the nozzle means foam residue wipes off rather than bonding permanently to the metal.

At this price point, it’s a sensible spare to keep in the van too. Foam guns have a habit of seizing up at the worst possible moment, usually mid-job with a half-used cartridge attached. Having a backup costs less than the delay. The stainless steel nozzle also resists the solvent cleaners you’d use between cartridges, so it should see a good few reloads before it gives you any trouble.

Pro Tip: After finishing a cartridge, spray PU foam gun cleaner through the nozzle immediately while the foam is still uncured, because once it sets inside the mechanism you are essentially looking at a bin job.
