CORREX® FIRE RATED Protection Sheet Board – 2mm Thick

Corplex CORREX Fire Rated Protection Sheet Boards are the standard choice for temporary surface protection on construction, renovation and fit-out sites across the UK. Each 2mm fire-rated CORREX board measures 2.4m x 1.2m, matching standard sheet sizes so you waste as little material as possible when covering floors, stairs and finished surfaces. The Class B fire rating means these boards meet the safety requirements for commercial projects, occupied buildings and any site where a main contractor will check the documentation.

The twin-wall polypropylene construction keeps the boards light without sacrificing protection. One person can carry and lay full sheets without difficulty, and they cut cleanly with a Stanley knife when you need to work around doorways, newel posts or other obstacles. The fluted core provides a small amount of cushioning that helps absorb impact from dropped tools and foot traffic rather than transferring it straight through to the surface below. The smooth face wipes down easily if paint or adhesive gets onto it, and boards that are looked after properly can be reused across several jobs.

Where 2mm Fire-Rated CORREX Boards Get Used

The 2mm thickness is the standard site choice for general floor and stair protection. It provides solid coverage against scuffs, scratches and light debris without building up height at thresholds or creating noticeable trip edges between sheets. This makes it the go-to option during second fix, decorating, tiling and snagging stages when finished floors and stairs are already down and the rest of the trades are still working through.

The fire rated specification is worth paying attention to beyond simply ticking a compliance box. Standard polypropylene protection boards are adequate for most domestic work where nobody is checking. As soon as you move onto a commercial site, a housing development with a principal contractor, or any project in a partially occupied building, fire rated materials become a requirement rather than an option. These boards resist ignition and limit flame spread, which means they will not make a fire incident significantly worse if something does go wrong during the build.

Coverage and Quantities

Each 2.4m x 1.2m sheet covers 2.88 square metres. Ten sheets gives you just under 29 square metres, which covers a decent-sized open-plan ground floor or a full flight of stairs with some overlap. Packs are available from single sheets through to 500, with bulk pricing that starts to make a meaningful difference from 10 sheets upwards. For a typical domestic refurb or extension, 20 to 50 sheets usually handles the job. Larger commercial fits or multi-unit developments will typically need 100 or more.
