Timco 100mm fire door hinges are built specifically for the demands of heavy-traffic public buildings, where a standard butt hinge simply won’t cut it. The Grade 13 ball bearing construction uses lubricated bearing washers to deliver smooth, consistent operation across the full lifespan of the door, which matters considerably when you’ve got a door closer fighting against every swing. These timco 100mm fire door hinges are rated for 30 and 60 minute fire doors weighing up to 120kg, and have been tested to 200,000 cycles. That’s a lot of people heading in and out of a hospital ward or school corridor without the hinge needing a second thought.

CE approved to BS EN 1935, so they meet the standard required for fire door hardware in the UK. Fixings are included in the pack, which is one less thing to rummage through a van for on site. Available in four finishes: Electro Brass, Matt Black, Polished Stainless Steel, and Satin Stainless Steel. The size is 101 x 76mm, which is the trade standard 4 inch hinge footprint most fire door sets are designed around.

Fitting Timco Fire Door Hinges to Comply with Fire Regulations

One point worth noting before you start: intumescent hinge pads are not included with these hinges and are not optional on fire doors. They’re a requirement under current fire door regulations, and without them the assembly won’t achieve the rated fire resistance. Timco’s own pads are available separately. It’s the sort of thing that’s easy to overlook when you’re ordering hardware in bulk, and the sort of thing a building inspector will absolutely not overlook.

Three hinges per door leaf is standard practice on fire doors of this weight class, though always check the door manufacturer’s certification documentation if you’re unsure. The ball bearing action makes a noticeable difference when used alongside a door closer: less resistance on the return stroke means less wear on both the closer and the hinge over time. A small detail with a real-world payoff over years of use in a busy building.

Pro Tip: Always use three hinges on fire doors rated over 60kg or in high-traffic locations, and check the door leaf certification to confirm the minimum hinge count required before hanging.
