Each segment type uses a high diamond concentration with a bond formulated to suit its cutting role. The segments are designed to work in harmony with one another, so as you move from a softer asphalt layer into harder underlying concrete, the blade does not lose its edge or slow the cut dramatically. That matters on site, where stopping to assess blade condition costs time.

Laser welding is used throughout the P5-CM range rather than the older sintered or silver soldered methods. Laser welded segments are bonded to the core at significantly higher strength, which reduces the risk of segment loss and maintains the blade geometry over its working life. It also means the blade handles the thermal stress of dry cutting and the shock loading you get when cutting into reinforced concrete with steel bar present.

What the Premier Diamond P5-CM Combo Blade Cuts

This blade covers an unusually wide list of materials for a single product. On the concrete side, it handles general purpose concrete, green concrete up to 24 hours old, concrete beams, kerbs, pipes and flag stones, flint aggregate concrete, and both light and heavy steel reinforcement. Block types covered include lightweight 3 to 7 Newton blocks, medium density 7 to 12 Newton and solid density 12 Newton plus.

On the masonry and paving side, the P5-CM cuts standard facing bricks, Class A and Class B engineering bricks, clay products, block paving, cement screed, sandstone and York stone. Roof tile cutting is also within scope, which is why roofing contractors find this blade genuinely useful rather than just a jack of all trades.

Asphalt and Asphalt Over Concrete

The asphalt capability is worth highlighting separately. Many diamond blades that claim to cut asphalt will cut clean asphalt reasonably well but struggle or wear rapidly when the asphalt layer sits over a concrete base.
