Corner braces are one of those fittings that quietly do a lot of work. Used to strengthen internal right angles on timber, furniture, shelving, and joinery, they hold joints firm where a simple butt joint or screwed fixing alone might not be enough. These zinc plated corner braces are a solid, practical choice for joiners, carpenters, shopfitters, and general builders who need a reliable fixing that won’t let the joint shift over time.
Each brace is made from zinc plated steel, which gives decent corrosion resistance for indoor use and the kind of finish that won’t look out of place on visible joinery. The countersunk holes are designed so the screw heads sit flush, keeping the surface tidy and avoiding any proud metalwork that catches on things or looks rough. It’s a small detail, but on fitted furniture and interior joinery it matters.
Corner Brace Sizes and Box Options
These corner braces are available in six sizes, from a compact 25 x 25 x 16mm up to a substantial 100 x 100 x 22mm, so you can match the brace to the job rather than making do with whatever’s in the van. Smaller braces suit light shelving and cabinet work; larger sizes are better for structural frames, work benches, and heavier timber constructions.
Box quantities of 25 or 50 mean you’re buying in sensible trade amounts rather than fiddling with individual packets. If you’re fitting out a workshop, running shelving along a full wall, or working through a batch of cabinets, having a box to hand saves multiple trips to the merchant. Fixings are not supplied, so use appropriate screws for the timber and load involved.
Pro Tip: Size the brace to the timber: a 25mm brace on 50mm stock looks undersized and won't carry the load, so as a rule match the brace leg length to at least half the timber thickness you're fixing into.
Corner braces are used wherever an internal right angle needs reinforcing. That covers a wide range of work: cabinet and furniture making, shelving units, timber frames, workbenches, stud partitions, gate bracing, and general joinery repairs. They're equally at home on a building site as in a workshop.
Shopfitters and joiners use them frequently on fitted furniture and display units. They're also commonly found reinforcing the internal corners of timber frames, pallet racking, and storage solutions in warehouses and retail environments.

Key Features
- Zinc plated steel construction
- Countersunk holes for flush screw heads
- Right angle profile for internal corners
- Fixings not supplied
Not suitable for: Not suitable for external or exposed wet conditions where stainless or hot-dip galvanised fixings would be more appropriate. Not intended as a structural load-bearing connector in engineered timber applications.
Position the corner brace centrally across the joint with each leg flat against the timber faces. Mark and pilot drill through the countersunk holes before driving screws, particularly in hardwood or near timber ends, to avoid splitting. Select a screw length that gives good bite without breaking through the far face.
- Select the correct brace size for your timber dimensions and the load the joint will carry
- Position the brace centrally over the internal corner with both legs flat against the timber
- Mark through the countersunk holes with a pencil or bradawl
- Pilot drill all holes to prevent splitting, especially in hardwood or close to timber ends
- Drive suitable screws through the countersunk holes until heads sit flush
- Check the joint is square before fully tightening if the assembly is not yet fixed
Are fixings included with the corner braces?
No, fixings are not supplied. You'll need to provide your own screws. Choose a length that gives good penetration into the timber without breaking through the opposite face, and make sure the head fits the countersunk profile cleanly for a flush finish.
Can these corner braces be used outdoors?
The zinc plating gives reasonable corrosion resistance for interior use, but for exposed outdoor applications you'd be better off with stainless steel or hot-dip galvanised braces. In a sheltered outdoor setting such as a covered timber frame they'll likely be fine, but in direct weather they'll eventually rust.
Pressed from steel and finished with a zinc electroplate coating, these corner braces offer good rigidity at the right angle joint. The countersunk fixing holes allow flat-head screws to sit flush with the brace face. The zinc plating provides corrosion resistance suitable for dry interior environments and general workshop conditions.
