Black fine thread drywall screws are the standard choice for fixing plasterboard to metal stud framing. The fine thread is designed specifically for metal stud work, cutting cleanly through the steel without chewing up the material or losing grip. These are black passivated, which gives them a degree of corrosion resistance and helps them sit flush without standing proud of the board surface.
Each screw features a Phillips bugle head, which spreads the load as it drives in and countersinks neatly without tearing the paper face of the board. The 25-degree super sharp point cuts through metal without pre-drilling, which saves time on site when you’re running through a hundred fixings before lunch. The 60-degree thread angle gives a solid bite in the stud and holds the board firmly in place.
Why Tradespeople Rely on Fine Thread Drywall Screws
The difference between fine and coarse thread matters more than it might seem. Coarse thread screws are for timber framing. Fine thread screws are for metal. Using a coarse thread in a metal stud tends to strip the fixing point and leave you with a loose board, which is nobody’s idea of a good finish. These black fine thread drywall screws are made for the job they’re doing.
They carry the CE mark in compliance with the Construction Products Regulation, so they meet the relevant European standards for use in construction. For drylining contractors, shopfitters, and anyone putting up partition walls, that matters when the job needs to be done to a recognised standard.
Available across a wide range of lengths from 25mm through to 100mm, and in box quantities from 100 up to 1000, so whether you’re doing a single room or a full-floor commercial fit-out, you can buy what you need without running short mid-job.
Pro Tip: When fixing into thin-gauge metal stud, keep your drill speed high but clutch setting low so the screw drives flush without punching straight through the board face.
