Firmahold galvanised straight brad nails are designed for use with straight nailers such as the Paslode IM65 and compatible first and second fix nailers. Each pack includes a gas canister, so you have everything you need to get straight on with the job. The galvanised coating gives adequate corrosion resistance for internal applications, and the T-head profile leaves a near-invisible fixing point in the finished work.

These nails are a staple of any joiner or carpenter’s kit. The straight collation feeds cleanly through the magazine, and the low-resistance shank drives smoothly into softwood and MDF without splitting or blowout. If you’ve ever had a nail gun spit out a bent brad at the wrong moment, you’ll appreciate how much difference a well-made nail makes. These won’t let you down.

Where Galvanised Straight Brad Nails Work Best

The T-head design is what sets these apart from a standard round-head nail. Because the head sits flush and sinks cleanly into the surface, there’s no visible fixing point once the nail is driven home. That matters on finishing work where filler or caulk is kept to a minimum and the surface needs to look clean.

The range covers seven lengths from 19mm up to 64mm, which means you can select the right nail for the substrate thickness rather than making do with whatever is closest to hand. Shorter lengths suit thin architrave profiles and lightweight mouldings. Longer lengths are better for thicker skirting boards, heavier section mouldings, and tongue and groove boarding where you need the nail to bite well into the stud or background.

Nail Selection by Job

As a rule of thumb, the nail should be at least twice the thickness of the piece being fixed. A 19mm or 25mm nail works well for light decorative mouldings. For standard skirting and architrave, 38mm to 45mm is the typical choice. The 50mm and 64mm options are suited to heavier boards or situations where the background is deeper.

Firmahold galvanised straight brad nails are sold as gas and nail packs, so there is no need to source consumables separately. Practical, straightforward, and available in the sizes you actually use.

Pro Tip: Always match the nail length to at least twice the thickness of the board being fixed — a nail that is too short will not hold reliably even if it drives cleanly.
