Where Galvanised Straight Brad Nails Work Best

Longer lengths are better for thicker skirting boards, heavier section mouldings, and tongue and groove boarding where you need the nail to bite well into the stud or background.

Nail Selection by Job

As a rule of thumb, the nail should be at least twice the thickness of the piece being fixed. A 19mm or 25mm nail works well for light decorative mouldings. For standard skirting and architrave, 38mm to 45mm is the typical choice. The 50mm and 64mm options are suited to heavier boards or situations where the background is deeper.
