£11.95£14.34 EX VATINC VAT
19-piece TiN coated HSS jobber drill set, 1.0mm to 10.0mm. Ground cutting edges, 118° tip, DIN338 standard. Parallel shank for rotary and bench drills. Drills steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, wood and plastic. Supplied in a fold-out plastic case.
This 19 piece TiN coated HSS jobber drill set covers the sizes you actually reach for day to day, running from 1.0mm right through to 10.0mm in 0.5mm steps. The Titanium Nitride coating gives the surface a distinctive gold finish and, more usefully, extends the working life of each bit compared to an uncoated HSS drill. Ground cutting edges mean you get clean, concentric entry rather than the wandering start you get with cheaper rolled bits.
Each drill is manufactured to DIN338 standard with a 118° point angle. That tip geometry suits general-purpose metalwork well, giving a good balance between self-centring and cutting efficiency. The parallel shank fits any standard 3-jaw chuck, so these drop straight into a handheld drill, a pillar drill, or a bench drill without fuss.
Where This HSS Drill Set Earns Its Keep
Steel is the primary target. Cast iron and non-ferrous metals such as aluminium, copper and brass are all fair game too. The set will also cut through wood and plastic when needed, which is genuinely useful on site when you are switching between materials without swapping out your case. It is not a dedicated wood set, but it handles the odd timber or sheet plastic job without complaint.
Cutting oil makes a real difference when drilling metal. It reduces heat buildup at the tip, which is what kills drill bits prematurely. The TiN coating helps, but it is not a substitute for proper lubrication on steel and cast iron. A small bottle of cutting oil next to this case is worth every penny.
What You Get in the Case
All 19 bits sit in a fold-out plastic case with individual indexed slots, so you can see at a glance what size you need and, importantly, what is missing at the end of a job. The sizes covered are: 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0, 5.5, 6.0, 6.5, 7.0, 7.5, 8.0, 8.5, 9.0, 9.5 and 10.0mm.
Pro Tip: When starting a hole in steel without a centre punch mark, use the smallest bit in the set to pilot the hole first, then step up to your target size. It keeps things accurate and puts far less strain on the larger bit.
