Standard angle bead is one of those products that gets taken for granted right up until the corner chips and someone has to go back and fix it. Getting it right first time means using a bead that holds a true, sharp arris and gives the plaster something solid to work against. This standard angle bead does exactly that, protecting and reinforcing rendered and plastered corners on internal and external applications where the finish needs to be clean and the edge needs to last.
The wing design sits flush into the plaster coat, giving a straight, consistent line that runs the full length of the bead. On a two coat application, the bead acts as a screed guide as well as a corner former, which saves time and reduces the chance of a wavy arris that only becomes obvious once the decorator arrives. Available in both 2.4m and 3.0m lengths to suit different floor-to-ceiling heights and general site requirements.
Where Standard Angle Bead Gets Used
The most common application is on internal wall corners in new build and refurbishment work, where plaster meets at 90 degrees and the corner will take regular knocks from furniture, door frames, or just everyday life. It is equally at home on rendered external corners, where it helps maintain a sharp edge through the render coats and provides a degree of mechanical protection once the job is done.
Two Coat System
This bead is designed for two coat plaster and render systems. The first coat is brought up to the bead nose, the second coat is finished flush. The result is a corner that is protected by both the bead itself and the plaster surrounding it. It is a straightforward, time-tested approach that most plasterers will know well, and this bead supports that process reliably without any fuss.
Supplied in a box of 50, this is the sensible buy for anyone running a site or working through a stack of rooms. Ordering in bulk keeps the job moving and the unit cost down, which is never a bad thing.
Pro Tip: When fixing angle bead, nail or clip it at no more than 300mm centres to keep the nose perfectly straight before plastering, as any bow in the bead will telegraph directly through to the finished corner.
