Kro Clips cut tile clips solve a problem every roofer knows well: you cut a tile to fit at a hip, valley or around a roof window, and you end up with a piece that has no nail hole left. BS 5534 still requires it to be mechanically fixed, and mortar bedding alone does not satisfy that requirement in exposed locations. These clips give you a compliant, reliable fix without drilling into fragile cut edges.

The design is simple and effective. A 380mm stainless spring steel wire wraps around the batten, and a spring-loaded jaw grips the tile edge. The jaw is 30mm long with a 12mm depth, which gives enough purchase on most concrete and clay tile profiles. Once in place, the clip holds the cut tile securely against wind uplift while sitting hidden beneath the overlapping course above. No visible fixings, no compromised appearance.

Where Kro Clips Cut Tile Clips Earn Their Keep

Hip and valley intersections, roof windows, skylights, dormers, verges: anywhere a tile has to be cut to fit, you potentially have a piece that cannot be nailed conventionally. Building inspectors know this, and they will ask how those cut pieces are fixed. Having Kro Clips on the van means you have a straightforward answer.

Stainless spring steel is the right material choice here. Standard galvanised wire will eventually rust through, particularly in coastal or industrial environments where corrosion accelerates. Stainless steel holds its spring tension and structural integrity for the service life of the roof covering. The jaw applies consistent pressure to the tile edge and does not loosen over time as the roof moves through thermal and seasonal cycles.

Installation takes seconds per clip. Bend the wire around the batten, position the jaw over the tile edge, and the spring does the rest. No special tools needed. Each box contains 50 clips, which covers one or two standard domestic roofs depending on the complexity of the detailing.

Pro Tip: When working at a hip with a close-cut tile, position the jaw as far back from the cut edge as the tile profile allows to maximise grip and reduce the risk of the clip walking forward under wind loading.
