These SDS+ drill bits are built to a proper standard. The shank is nickel chromoly steel, which gives it better toughness than standard carbon steel alternatives. Blanks up to 11mm are cold formed rather than machined, which preserves the grain structure of the steel and results in a stronger bit overall. After forming, they are fully heat treated to reduce the risk of bending under load. Shot-peening finishes the job, compressing the surface of the steel to improve fatigue resistance. That might sound like overkill for a drill bit, but on a busy site running a 4kg rotary hammer all day, it makes a real difference to how long the bit lasts.
