The carbide tip is the part that matters most on a hammer drill bit. Here it is brazed onto a ground-forged body, which means you get a tip hard enough to cut quickly through masonry while the shank itself absorbs the constant hammer blows without fatiguing. Cheap bits often fail at the junction between tip and body after a few hundred holes. These are selected specifically to avoid that.

What Makes These SDS Plus Drill Bits Worth Using

The spiral fluting is worth a mention. On a hammer drill, the bit is spinning and hammering simultaneously, which generates a fair amount of dust and debris in the hole. If that debris cannot escape, it packs around the cutting tip and slows penetration considerably. The spiral design here channels waste out continuously as you drill, keeping the tip cutting clean and reducing the effort needed to push through harder materials.

The SDS plus shank fits all standard SDS plus hammer drills from any major manufacturer. The locking mechanism holds the bit firmly during hammering without requiring a chuck key, so bit changes on site are quick and take no particular thought. There is something to be said for that at 7am on a Monday.

Priced competitively per bit, these make sense to buy in the sizes you use regularly and keep a few spares on the van. Running out of a common size mid-job is an avoidable problem.
