SMD LEDs have a few real advantages over the halogen units they’ve largely replaced on site. They run cool, which matters more than people think. Halogen heads get hot enough to cause burns if you accidentally brush against them, and they’re not forgiving if the light gets knocked over mid-job. SMD units don’t have that problem. They’re also maintenance-free — no tubes to replace, no starters to fiddle with. The LED array is either working or it isn’t, and it takes a good knock to stop it working.

The lamp head is die-cast aluminium, slim enough to not feel like it’s fighting you when you carry it, and rated IP44 for dust and water ingress protection. Height adjustment runs from 1,070mm up to 2,060mm via two twist grip locks on the telescopic tripod, and the heads are fully adjustable so you can point the light exactly where it needs to go. Alternatively, pull the lamp head off the tripod entirely using the quick-release mechanism and use it as a standalone pod light on the floor or on a shelf. It’s a useful option when ceiling height or the nature of the work makes a full-height stand impractical.

Cable and Power

Comes supplied with 2.5m of cable fitted with an approved BS plug, ready to connect and get going. The cable length is enough for most situations close to a supply, though on larger sites you’ll likely need an extension lead.
