A good bi metal holesaw is one of those tools that earns its place on the van within the first job. These bi-metal holesaws are built with hardened HSS teeth brazed to a flexible alloy steel body, which means the teeth stay sharp longer and the body won’t crack under the stress that would snap a cheaper all-HSS saw. Whether you’re punching holes through a steel door for a lock, cutting conduit entries in enclosures, or boring through timber for pipework, one of these will do the job without a fuss.

The variable pitch tooth form is worth noting. It’s not just a spec-sheet detail. Variable pitch reduces vibration and helps clear swarf more efficiently, which translates to a cleaner cut and less heat build-up. On harder materials like stainless or cast iron that matters quite a bit, because heat is what kills teeth. You’ll also get 38mm of cutting depth across every size in the range, so you’re not having to double-check whether a particular diameter gives you enough reach.

Where Bi-Metal Holesaws Get Used on Site

The size range here is genuinely wide. From 19mm at the small end right up to 210mm, there’s enough variety to cover most trade applications without needing to source elsewhere. Electricians tend to live in the 20mm to 44mm range for back boxes and enclosure knockouts. Plumbers and heating engineers reach for the larger sizes when making pipe entries through timber joists or masonry plasterboard. Security and door hardware installers tend to need the mid-range 57mm to 76mm sizes for cylinder and lock fitting.

Fully Interchangeable Arbor Fitting

These holesaws are fully interchangeable with most standard arbors from other brands, so if you already have an arbor setup you’re happy with, you won’t need to replace it. Arbors are sold separately here at DTS if you do need one. It’s a sensible system: buy the arbor once, swap the saws out as sizes change or teeth wear.

Sold individually, so you only buy the size you need rather than paying for a set of diameters that gather dust in the bottom of the toolbox.

Pro Tip: When cutting stainless steel, run your drill at a lower speed than you think you need and keep steady pressure throughout. Stainless work-hardens quickly if you let the teeth rub without cutting, and once that happens you're into a tooth replacement situation rather than a clean job.
