These Reisser long series HSS ground drill bits are made to DIN1869 standard, which means you get the extra length where standard drill bits simply can’t reach. Whether you’re drilling through thick section steel, deep into timber, or working through stacked materials, the added reach makes jobs possible that would otherwise need an extension or a complete rethink. If you’ve ever snapped a short bit trying to coax it deeper than it was ever meant to go, you’ll already know why long series hss ground drill bits exist.
The HSS-G designation means the flute and cutting edges have been precision ground rather than just milled. That matters in practice. Ground bits run truer, hold an edge longer, and produce a cleaner hole with less heat build-up than rolled equivalents. The 135° split point tip cuts from the centre outward, reducing the tendency to walk on entry without needing a centre punch on most surfaces.
Where Long Series HSS Ground Drill Bits Earn Their Keep
The extra length is the whole point here. These bits suit jobs where a standard series bit bottoms out in the chuck before it gets through the material, or where you need to reach into a recess, through a box section, or across an awkward angle. Electricians and plumbers know the feeling well. Fabricators working with thick plate will get on with these, as will anyone drilling through structural sections or building in tight spaces where the drill body itself needs to clear an obstruction.
Suitable for most steels, cast iron, aluminium, hard plastics and timber. The ground flutes clear swarf cleanly at normal drilling speeds, which helps maintain bit temperature and extends tool life in repetitive work.
Available Sizes
Stocked in nine sizes from 3.0mm up to 10.0mm, with overall lengths from 100mm to 184mm depending on diameter. Sold in packs of five or ten depending on the size selected. Useful if you run a van stock or regularly burn through a particular size on site.
Pro Tip: Keep your drill speed in the right range for the material: too fast on steel and you'll blue the tip before you know it, which kills the hardness and ruins the bit far quicker than the workpiece will.
