Mark the fixing positions on the wall using the basin as a template, ensuring it is level. Drill into the masonry at the marked points and insert the nylon plugs. Feed the fixing bolt through the basin lug, slide the countersunk nylon bush into place, then drive the fixing into the plug. Not directly. Dot-and-dab walls have a void between the board and the masonry behind, which means standard fixings can pull through under load. You would need to locate the solid masonry behind and use longer fixings to bridge the gap, or fit a suitable backing board to the wall first.
Do I need the nylon bushes if I am fixing into timber?
The nylon bush between the bolt head and the basin is still worth using regardless of substrate — it protects the ceramic from the fixing head. The nylon wall plugs, however, are not needed when driving into timber, and the bolt can go directly into the wood.
Which size should I choose, M8 or M10?
