These 40mm plastic headed pins are the go-to fixing for UPVC fascia boards, soffits, and related cladding trim. The coloured plastic head sits flush and discreet against the board face, avoiding the eyesore of a bare metal nail head on a clean white soffit run. Whether you’re working on a full fascia replacement or tidying up the last metre of a soffit panel, these soffit nails get the job done neatly and reliably.

The plastic cap head does two jobs at once: it covers the fixing point and provides a broader bearing surface than a standard nail head, which helps hold thinner UPVC boards without pulling through. That’s useful on the narrower soffit panels where you’re sometimes working close to the edge. At 40mm, the shank length gives good penetration into timber sub-fascia and rafter feet without bottoming out in shallow sections.

Where These Plastic Headed Pins Get Used

These pins are a staple on roofline jobs. Roofers and fascia fitters use them when boarding out in UPVC, particularly for securing the face of fascia boards, fixing soffit panels to bearer battens, and pinning trim pieces around window and door heads. They’re also used on cladding work where a colour-matched head keeps the finish looking right.

Colour matching matters on this type of work. A white nail head on a brown fascia stands out badly, especially on a south-facing elevation where it catches the light. These pins come in four standard roofline colours: White, Brown, Black and Anthracite Grey. That covers the vast majority of UPVC systems on the market without needing to paint over anything or rely on filler caps.

Each box contains 250 pins, which is a sensible working quantity for a typical roofline job on a semi-detached or small detached property. If you’re pricing up a full estate refurb or a run of new builds, it’s worth ordering in multiples to keep the van stocked and avoid the mid-job run to the merchant. These are the kind of consumable you always seem to run short of at the worst moment.

Simple to drive by hand or with a nail gun depending on your setup, these soffit nails require no pre-drilling in most UPVC applications and leave a clean, professional finish.

Pro Tip: When fixing soffit panels to timber bearers, position your pins no closer than 10mm from the panel edge to avoid splitting thin UPVC in cold weather when the material is less forgiving.
