Firmahold A2 stainless steel collated nails are made for structural work where corrosion resistance is not optional. These are the nails you reach for when the timber is green oak, the environment is exposed, or building regulations specifically require stainless fixings. Stainless steel collated nails are the correct choice wherever moisture, salt air, or chemically active timber would cause ordinary bright or galvanised nails to corrode and fail over time.
The nails are manufactured from A2 stainless steel and conform to Eurocode 5, meeting Service Class 3 requirements. That matters when you are building decking, cladding, structural timber frames, or any outdoor fixing that needs to stand up to a genuine weathering environment. If your specification calls for Service Class 3, these nails are correct by the standard, not just broadly suitable.
Firmahold A2 Stainless Steel Collated Nails: Design and Performance
The ring shank profile grips timber fibres as the nail drives home, resisting withdrawal forces far better than a smooth shank equivalent. Combined with a diamond point for clean, accurate penetration, these nails drive consistently without deflecting or splitting the workpiece, even in denser hardwoods.
Paper collation at a 34° angle reduces the chance of jams during rapid firing. It also breaks away cleanly on discharge, leaving no strip material to deal with after the job. The clipped head design fits more nails per strip, which means fewer reloads and less time with your hand in the magazine. When you are fixing a full deck or framing a structure outside, that adds up over the course of a day.
Available Sizes
These Firmahold stainless steel collated nails are available in three sizes: 50mm x 2.8mm, 63mm x 2.8mm, and 80mm x 3.1mm. Each box contains 1100 nails. Choose the size based on your timber thickness and the load demands of the fixing. The 80mm ring shank option is particularly well suited to structural connections in treated or engineered timber where pull-out resistance is critical.
These are no-gas nails, so they are designed for use with first-fix nailers that use a separate gas canister or compressor-powered nail guns. Check your tool manufacturer’s compatibility before ordering.
Pro Tip: When fixing into green oak, always use A2 or A4 stainless steel nails: green oak contains high levels of tannic acid that will corrode galvanised fixings within months, causing staining and structural weakening that is a nightmare to put right after the fact.
