Credit Plans Available

Multi coloured cable ties are one of those things you don’t think about until you’re elbow-deep in a junction box trying to work out which bundle goes where. Having a colour-coded system saves time, reduces mistakes, and makes any future work on the install considerably less painful. This 200-pack gives you a good spread of colours to work with straight out of the bag.

Made from nylon, these ties are heat and corrosion resistant, so they hold up in the sort of environments cables tend to live in — behind panels, in ceiling voids, under floors, outside in containment. Nylon cable ties can handle a reasonable range of temperatures without going brittle or losing their grip, which matters if you’re working near anything that generates warmth.

Where Multi Coloured Cable Ties Come Into Their Own

The colour element is the real point here. If you’re pulling multiple circuits, it’s straightforward to assign a colour per circuit and tie accordingly. Same goes for data and comms installs where you’ve got different networks or signal types running in the same area. Even on a basic domestic job, using different colours for different zones just makes life easier for whoever comes after you. That person might even be you, six months later, and you’ll be glad you bothered.

The pack size makes sense for most jobs. Two hundred ties covers a fair amount of work without you needing to buy a full contractor box, and at this price point you’re not going to agonise over using an extra tie when you need one. That’s how they should be used, really — generously.

These are standard one-piece releasable or fixed-style nylon ties depending on the variant in the pack. They work with any standard cable tie gun or by hand. The locking mechanism is the familiar self-locking ratchet tab, so once you’ve pulled it tight it stays put. Simple, proven, does exactly what it’s supposed to.

Pro Tip: When colour-coding circuits with cable ties, write your colour key on the inside of the distribution board door in permanent marker so the next electrician on site doesn't have to guess your system.
