Everbuild Clearfix is a one-part, solvent-free hybrid polymer sealant and adhesive that bonds, seals and fills gaps in one go. Crystal clear finish, fully waterproof, and works on wet surfaces. Decent temperature range too.
Everbuild Clearfix sealant is one of those products that earns its keep on site. It’s a one-part, chemically curing hybrid polymer that pulls together the best bits of silicone and polyurethane technology into a single tube. No mixing, no primers, no messing around. You get high initial grab, gap-filling capability, and a crystal clear finish that disappears into the job rather than drawing attention to it.
The formulation is completely solvent-free, which matters in enclosed spaces or when you’re working near materials that don’t play well with harsh chemicals. It cures to a flexible, permanent bond that handles movement without cracking. That flexibility is what separates a decent hybrid polymer from a standard grab adhesive, and it’s why Clearfix suits applications where joints shift slightly with temperature or structural movement.
Where Everbuild Clearfix Gets Used
The headline property here is primeless adhesion to an unusually wide range of surfaces. Metals, most plastics, glass, concrete, plaster, plasterboard, wood, fibreglass, enamel, painted surfaces, Perspex — Clearfix sticks to most of them without a separate primer step. That saves time and removes one more thing to carry.
It’s equally at home indoors and out. Waterproof and weatherproof once cured, with a working temperature range of -40°C to 150°C. It also resists chemical spillage including petrol and dilute acids, which is why you’ll see it used around garage forecourts, workshops, and anywhere with the occasional hostile splash.
Clearfix on Damp and Wet Surfaces
One genuinely useful characteristic is that Clearfix can be applied to damp or wet surfaces and still achieve a solid bond. On site that’s often the difference between getting the job done today and coming back tomorrow. It’s overpaintable too, so if the clear finish isn’t what the job calls for, you can top-coat it once cured.
As a nail replacement adhesive, for perimeter sealing around windows and doors, for bonding mirrors, jointing cladding panels, or sealing automotive bodywork gaps — Clearfix covers a lot of ground for a £6.99 tube.
Pro Tip: If you need a flush, invisible bead on glass or clear substrates, wet your finger with a little washing-up liquid and smooth the sealant before it skins over — Clearfix stays workable briefly after application and a clean tooled bead makes a big difference to the finished result.
Clearfix is used wherever a single product needs to both bond and seal in the same application. It's popular for perimeter sealing around doors and windows, particularly in caravans, mobile structures and boats where movement is constant. Tradespeople use it for bonding mirrors to walls, jointing cladding panels, sealing automotive gaps, and any situation where chemical or water resistance is needed long-term. It also works well as a nail replacement adhesive on damp substrates when conditions don't allow for a clean dry fix.
Not suitable for: Not recommended for structural load-bearing joints or applications subject to continuous full water immersion. Check compatibility before use on silicone rubber or PTFE surfaces, as adhesion to these can be unreliable.
Clean the surfaces before application. Remove dust, grease, loose material and any old sealant. Dry surfaces will give the best bond, but Clearfix will adhere to damp ones if needed. Cut the nozzle to the bead size required and apply steady, even pressure to the cartridge gun.
Press the parts together firmly after application and hold or support them while the initial grab takes effect. Tool the bead with a wet finger or spatula before skinning begins if a neat finish is needed. Allow full cure before exposing to heavy loading or chemical contact.
Clean both surfaces thoroughly, removing grease, dust and any old sealant or paint flakes
Ensure surfaces are dry where possible, or at minimum free of standing water
Cut the nozzle at an angle to suit the bead width required
Load the cartridge into a standard sealant gun and apply a consistent bead to one surface
Press the surfaces firmly together and apply pressure for initial grab
Tool the bead smooth with a wet finger or spatula immediately if a neat finish is required
Support or clamp if needed while the adhesive develops full grip
Allow to cure fully before placing the joint under load or chemical exposure
Does Clearfix need a primer before use?
No. One of its main practical advantages is primeless adhesion to most common building surfaces including metals, glass, most plastics, wood, concrete and plasterboard. There are a few exceptions such as silicone rubber and PTFE, so it's worth testing on unfamiliar substrates first.
Can I paint over Clearfix once it has cured?
Yes, Clearfix is overpaintable once fully cured. If a coloured finish is needed, standard decorating paints can be applied over the cured sealant. The crystal clear formula means it also looks fine left unpainted on glass or transparent materials.
How long does Clearfix take to cure fully?
Initial grab is quick, but full chemical cure depends on temperature, humidity and the thickness of the applied bead. Thinner beads in warm, humid conditions cure fastest. As a general guide, allow 24 hours before heavy loading, though surface tack will have gone well before that.
Clearfix is a one-part, moisture-curing hybrid polymer that combines silicone-like flexibility with the bonding strength associated with polyurethane chemistries. It is entirely solvent-free and cures to a permanently flexible, clear material. Rated for continuous use between -40°C and 150°C, it resists weathering, UV exposure, water immersion, and chemical contact including petrol and dilute acids and alkalis up to 10% concentration.
