FC1 is a single-tube solution for filling and sealing gaps around door frames, skirtings, coving and more. No sanding needed, paintable in an hour, and it won’t slump even on fills up to 25mm. Works on wood, metal, plaster, brick and most plastics.
FC1 filler and caulk does the job of two products from one 310ml cartridge. Whether you’re sealing around a skirting board, filling a crack in plaster, or caulking an architrave before painting, this is the tube you reach for. The acrylic elastomer formula stays flexible once cured, which means it won’t crack out when timber moves with the seasons — something rigid fillers tend to get wrong fairly quickly.
The finish comes out smooth enough that you won’t need to sand it back. That alone saves a meaningful amount of time on a full room out, especially when you’re doing multiple door frames or window reveals in one hit. Give it an hour and you can paint or paper straight over it. On a productive day, that’s the difference between coming back tomorrow and wrapping up today.
Where FC1 Filler and Caulk Fits Into the Job
It handles gaps up to 25mm in a single pass without slumping, which puts it ahead of most standard decorators’ caulks that start to sag if you push them past a few millimetres. The solvent-free formula means no unpleasant fumes in occupied rooms, and it applies cleanly across a good range of temperatures — anywhere from 5°C to 40°C — so it’s usable in an unheated house in winter without drama.
FC1 bonds to wood, metal, brick, stone, plaster and most plastics, so you’re not swapping products halfway through a job because the substrate changed. One cartridge, standard 310ml gun, carries on. It’s the sort of thing decorators and joiners tend to keep a few of in the van rather than hunting for specific fillers for specific surfaces.
Flexibility That Lasts
The advanced acrylic elastomer technology behind the FC1 filler and caulk gives it a degree of movement tolerance that standard decorators’ filler simply doesn’t have. Joints that shift, expand and contract — coving mitres, window boards, timber frames — stay sealed rather than opening back up after the first cold snap. It’s a small thing that makes a real difference to callbacks.
Pro Tip: When filling larger gaps close to 25mm, dampen the substrate lightly before applying FC1 to slow the surface cure and give the product time to settle fully into the void before skinning over.
FC1 is used daily by decorators, joiners and general builders for filling and sealing internal joinery gaps. It's the go-to for skirting boards, architraves, door linings, window boards, coving and any joint where movement is likely. It also works well on plasterboard reveals, ceiling roses and cornicing.
Because it bonds to such a wide range of surfaces, it suits mixed-material joints where one side might be timber and the other plaster or masonry. Useful anywhere you need a painted finish that won't show hairline cracks six months down the line.

Standard 310ml cartridge
Not suitable for: Not suitable for external use or areas with prolonged water exposure such as wet rooms or shower enclosures. Not recommended for structural gap-filling or load-bearing applications.
Load the 310ml cartridge into a standard skeleton gun. Cut the nozzle at a slight angle to match the width of the gap you're filling — smaller opening for fine joints, wider for gaps up to 25mm. Apply steady, even pressure and draw the gun smoothly along the joint in one continuous pass where possible.
Tool off with a wet finger or a damp caulk tool immediately after application while the product is still workable. FC1 skins over relatively quickly, so don't leave it too long before finishing the surface. Clean excess from the surrounding area with a damp cloth before it sets.
Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free from dust, grease and loose material
Load the 310ml cartridge into a standard 310ml skeleton or sausage gun
Cut the nozzle tip at 45 degrees to suit the width of the joint
Apply steady pressure and run the gun along the gap in one smooth, continuous movement
Tool off immediately with a wet finger or damp caulk spatula to achieve a smooth finish
Wipe away any excess with a damp cloth before the product begins to skin
Leave to cure for at least one hour before painting or papering over
Can FC1 be used as a filler and a caulk on the same job?
Yes, that's the point of it. FC1 is formulated to work as both a decorator's filler and a flexible caulk, so you can use the same cartridge to fill a crack in plaster and then seal the joint between the skirting and the wall without swapping products.
How long before FC1 can be painted over?
In normal conditions it can be painted or papered over in as little as one hour. Thicker applications up to 25mm may need a little longer, particularly in cooler or less well-ventilated rooms. When in doubt, give it a light touch with a fingernail — if it doesn't indent, it's ready.
Will FC1 crack if the joint moves after it's cured?
FC1 uses an acrylic elastomer formula which gives it flexibility after curing. It's designed to accommodate the minor movement you get in timber joints and internal joinery, which is why it performs better than rigid fillers in those situations. It won't stretch indefinitely, but for normal seasonal movement in a heated building it holds up well.
FC1 is based on advanced acrylic elastomer technology, giving it a degree of flexibility after cure that standard acrylic or vinyl-based decorators' fillers don't offer. It is solvent-free, low odour and compatible with emulsion, solvent-based and specialist decorating paints. The product cures by air exposure and is supplied in a standard 310ml cartridge compatible with all common skeleton guns.
