Professional Expanding Foam Applicator Gun

Lightweight metal applicator gun for polyurethane gun grade expanding foams. Features an adjustable flow valve for precise output control. Easy to use and clean. Compatible with standard gun foam canisters.
An expanding foam applicator gun is one of those tools that pays for itself the first time you use it properly. Anyone who has struggled with a straw can on a big job knows exactly what we mean. This professional metal gun takes standard gun grade polyurethane foam canisters and gives you proper control over output, flow rate, and direction — the kind of control you simply cannot get from a straw applicator.
The gun is built from metal throughout, which matters more than it might sound. Plastic guns flex and can crack under repeated use, particularly when foam cures inside the mechanism and you are forcing movement during cleaning. This one is built to last, provided you look after it — and looking after it mostly just means cleaning it properly after use.
What the Expanding Foam Applicator Gun Actually Does Better
The adjustable flow valve is the key feature here. You can dial back the output for fine work around window frames, electrical back boxes, or pipe penetrations where too much foam causes more problems than it solves. Open it up for cavity filling or larger gaps where speed matters more than precision. That single adjustment makes this gun suitable for a wide range of jobs rather than just one type of work.
The trigger mechanism gives you a consistent, repeatable pull each time. This makes a difference when you are doing multiple frames in sequence and want consistent fill without constantly second-guessing the output. There is no guesswork once you have set the valve and found the pressure you need.
Keeping It in Good Condition
Use a proper gun foam cleaner after every session. Uncured foam cleans up easily. Cured foam inside the mechanism is a different story entirely — at that point you are either soaking it overnight in solvent or reaching for a replacement. A quick flush through with cleaner takes about two minutes and keeps the gun working reliably for the long term.
At this price, it is genuinely good value for any tradesperson who uses gun foam regularly. It handles the everyday demands of site work without being overbuilt or overpriced.
Pro Tip: Always store the gun with the canister still attached and a small amount of foam left in the nozzle after cleaning, as this helps create a seal that protects the needle valve from drying out between uses.
This applicator gun is used wherever gun grade polyurethane expanding foam is needed on site. That covers window and door frame installation, pipe and cable penetrations through walls and floors, roof void sealing, cavity infill around structural openings, and general draught proofing work. It is used regularly by joiners, plasterers, plumbers, and general builders.
It is also well suited to insulation work where foam is used to seal around rigid insulation boards or fix them temporarily in position. Any job that requires repeated or high-volume foam application is where this gun earns its place.
Best For
- Window and door frame installation
- Pipe and cable penetrations
- Cavity and void filling
- Draught proofing and sealing
- Insulation board fixing
Works With
- Standard gun grade polyurethane foam canisters
- Gun foam cleaner solvents
- Most major foam canister brands with standard valve fitting
Key Features
- Metal construction throughout
- Adjustable flow valve
- Trigger-controlled dispensing
- Lightweight design
- Easy to clean with gun foam cleaner
Not suitable for: Not compatible with straw-type or aerosol foam cans — this gun requires dedicated gun grade foam canisters with a threaded valve fitting. Not recommended for use with polyurethane adhesives or other canister products not designed for foam applicator guns.
Attach the foam canister to the gun by screwing it firmly into the threaded fitting at the base of the barrel. Set the flow valve to a low output to begin with and test the foam on a scrap surface to gauge the expansion rate before committing to the actual joint or gap.
Work steadily along the gap, filling to around half depth to allow for expansion. Foam expands significantly as it cures, and overfilling a narrow gap will cause it to push out and cure in places you do not want it. Trim the cured excess cleanly with a sharp knife once fully set.
After use, flush the gun thoroughly with gun foam cleaner before the foam cures inside the mechanism. Attach the cleaner canister in place of the foam and fire through until the solvent runs clear from the nozzle.
- Shake the foam canister thoroughly before attaching it to the gun
- Screw the canister firmly into the threaded fitting until secure
- Set the flow valve to a low setting before beginning
- Test output on a scrap surface and adjust the valve to the required flow
- Apply foam steadily into the gap, filling to no more than half the cavity depth
- Allow the foam to expand and cure fully before trimming any excess flush with a sharp knife
- After use, remove the foam canister and attach a gun foam cleaner canister
- Flush the cleaner through the gun until solvent runs clear from the nozzle
- Store the gun clean and dry between uses
Will this gun work with any brand of gun foam?
It is compatible with most standard gun grade polyurethane foam canisters that use the common threaded valve fitting. The vast majority of trade gun foams use this standard fitting, so it should work with whatever brand you prefer. Always check the canister thread type if you are using a less common product.
What happens if I do not clean the gun after use?
Polyurethane foam cures by reacting with moisture in the air, so any foam left in the gun will begin to set. Once cured inside the mechanism, it can block the needle valve and trigger assembly. You may be able to clear it with an overnight soak in gun cleaner solvent, but in many cases a blocked gun is a written-off gun. Clean it every time — it takes two minutes.
Can I leave the foam canister attached to the gun between uses?
Yes, this is actually the recommended approach when you are working across multiple sessions. Leaving the canister attached helps seal the nozzle and slows the curing process inside the tip. Just make sure the gun has been flushed or that there is fresh foam sitting at the nozzle to act as a plug. Do not leave it unattended for more than a few days without checking the tip has not blocked.
Constructed from metal throughout, this applicator gun is designed for repeated professional use with gun grade polyurethane one-component foam systems. The adjustable needle valve controls foam output by regulating flow through the dispensing tube. The trigger mechanism provides consistent, repeatable actuation suitable for extended use. Compatible with standard threaded gun foam canister fittings common across the trade market.
