Random orbital sanding discs take more punishment than most consumables on site, and the cheap ones let you know about it pretty quickly. These Timco premium discs use an aluminium oxide abrasive bonded to a high-strength, heat-resistant backing paper that holds together under continuous use without cracking or delaminating mid-job. If you’ve ever had a disc disintegrate at 12,000 RPM, you’ll appreciate why that matters.
Available in 125mm and 150mm to suit the most common random orbital sanders on site, with a full grit range including P60, P80, P120, P180 and an assorted pack. The hook and loop backing seats cleanly on the sander pad and releases just as easily when you’re switching grits, which on a busy job makes more difference than it sounds.
What Makes These Random Orbital Sanding Discs Worth Using
The anti-clog coating is the feature that has the most practical impact day to day. Sanding filler, plaster or soft wood tends to load up a disc quickly and once it’s clogged, you’re just burnishing the surface rather than cutting it. The coating significantly delays that loading, so you get more usable passes per disc before it needs replacing.
Dust extraction is also improved compared to standard discs. The hole pattern is designed to pull dust through efficiently, which keeps the work surface clear and reduces airborne particles. That matters both for finish quality and for working conditions in enclosed spaces.
Surfaces These Discs Handle Well
These discs work across wood, paint, varnish, plaster and filler. The P60 cuts fast for rough shaping or stripping, P80 follows for levelling, and P120 and P180 bring surfaces up to a clean finish ready for coating. The flexible paper conforms to slightly uneven surfaces without tearing, which makes them a reliable choice for joinery work, site boarding and finishing tasks alike.
Sold in packs of five, these are a practical buy whether you’re topping up your supply mid-job or stocking the van for the week ahead.
Pro Tip: When sanding filler or plaster, let the surface cure fully before starting with P80 or finer, as sanding too early clogs discs fast and leaves a scratchy finish that shows through paint.
