Floplast Solvent Weld Cement 250ml

Floplast Solvent Weld Cement is a purpose-made adhesive for bonding UPVC, MUPVC, and ABS soil and waste pipe systems. The cement works by chemically softening the mating surfaces of the pipe and fitting, which then fuse together as the solvent evaporates. The result is a joint that is effectively part of the pipe itself. If you are working with above-ground drainage and need a permanent, watertight connection, floplast solvent cement is the straightforward answer.

The 250ml tin is a practical size for most drainage jobs. It covers a good number of joints without being so large that it skins over before you have finished. It comes with a brush built into the lid, so there is no rummaging around for a separate applicator when you are mid-job and your hands are already covered in pipe shavings.

Solvent weld connections are preferred in many installations over push-fit alternatives because once the joint is made, it stays made. There is no risk of the pipe pulling back out of the fitting under pressure or movement, and no rubber seal to degrade over time. For soil stacks, WC connections, and waste runs that will be boxed in or buried within a chase, solvent weld gives peace of mind that push-fit cannot quite match.

The 250ml size is particularly well suited to jobs involving a moderate number of joints, such as a full soil stack assembly or a multi-branch waste system under a bathroom floor.

The cement is compatible with standard Floplast soil and waste fittings and works with the wider range of UPVC and ABS drainage products from other manufacturers, provided the surfaces are clean and correctly prepared. If in doubt, always test on a scrap piece first, particularly when mixing brands.

Solvent Weld Cement in Practice

Getting a good solvent weld joint is not complicated, but preparation makes the difference. Both surfaces need to be clean, dry, and free from grease or dust. A light chamfer on the pipe end reduces the risk of the cement being scraped back as you push the pipe home. Apply the cement quickly and evenly, push and hold for around 30 seconds, and avoid disturbing the joint while it sets. The initial grip comes on fast, but full chemical cure takes longer, so do not pressure-test or run water through the system for at least a few hours after completing the joints.
