POZI – Impact Driver Bits – PZ1 – No.1 x 25 (10 pcs)
£5.80£6.96 EX VATINC VAT
Heavy-duty PZ1 impact driver bits built to handle high-torque applications without snapping. Torsion zone construction, black phosphate finish, and a heat treatment process that keeps them going longer than your standard bit.
A 25mm PZ1 impact driver bit sounds simple enough. But anyone who has watched a cheap bit round off mid-drive, or worse, snap inside a screw head on a roof purlin, knows there is more to it than that. These PZ1 impact driver bits are built specifically for use with impact drivers — not just repurposed standard bits that happen to fit the chuck.
The metal composition is what sets them apart. The alloy used here has been developed with impact driving in mind, where the forces involved are very different from a standard drill or screwdriver. An impact driver delivers sudden, rotational hammer blows. That is exactly the kind of stress that causes cheaper bits to fracture at the shank. These bits absorb it.
How the PZ1 Impact Driver Bit Handles the Work
The torsion zone is the key feature. A section of the bit body is engineered to flex slightly under load, rather than resist rigidly and snap. Think of it as the bit taking the hit so the screw head does not have to. The hardness is deliberately reduced at the body relative to the tip, which means the bit bends before it breaks. That is not a flaw — it is the point.
The heat treatment process has been refined to improve both longevity and consistent performance across the life of the bit. You get the same drive on bit fifty as you did on bit one, which matters when you are running fixings all day. The black phosphate finish adds a layer of corrosion resistance, useful on sites where bits end up rattling around in damp toolboxes or exposed to the elements.
PZ1 vs PH1 — Worth Knowing
Pozidriv and Phillips look similar but they are not the same. PZ1 has additional contact points between the driver and the screw head, which reduces cam-out significantly. If you are using PZ1 screws — and most modern structural and joinery screws in the UK are Pozidriv — using the correct bit makes a real difference. Using a Phillips bit in a Pozidriv head is one of those small mistakes that adds up across a working day.
Available in PZ1, PZ2, and PZ3, and in both 25mm and 50mm lengths. The 25mm PZ1 is the standard go-to for most fixing applications. Ten bits per pack, priced to make sense when you are buying for a job or restocking the van.
Pro Tip: Keep a few PZ1 bits separate from your PZ2 stock — they look near-identical in a bit holder and grabbing the wrong one mid-job on small gauge screws is an easy way to chew a head.
