The Demsun MS40 water stopper liquid membrane is a cold-applied, one-component silane modified polymer that forms a seamless, elastic waterproof layer without the need for primers, mixing or specialist kit. No bitumen. No solvents. No isocyanates. Just brush it on, let it cure, and you have a UV-resistant membrane that moves with the substrate rather than fighting it.

That last point matters more than it sounds. Concrete cracks. It always has, it always will. MS40 bridges cracks up to 5mm wide once fully cured, which means minor substrate movement is not immediately a callback situation. That kind of crack bridging performance is what separates a decent waterproofing membrane from a product that looks fine in the tin and fails at the first frost.

Where Demsun MS40 Liquid Membrane Gets Used

This is primarily a product for flat or low-pitch concrete surfaces: balconies, terraces, plant room roofs, concrete podium decks, and similar non-trafficked areas where water needs to go somewhere other than through the structure below. It bonds well to concrete, natural stone, marble and ceramic, so it works across the kind of mixed-substrate situations you typically find on refurbishment work.

It is also worth noting the paintable surface once cured. On exposed balconies or terraces where the membrane itself will be visible, that matters. Most bitumen-based products leave you with a black surface that looks like a car park. MS40 gives you options.

Indoor and Outdoor Use

MS40 is rated for both indoor and outdoor applications, and its resistance to moisture during cure means you are not entirely at the mercy of a dry weather window. Cold temperature performance is solid too, with the cured membrane maintaining elastic behaviour well below freezing. For UK conditions, that counts for a lot.

The one-component format removes the single biggest source of application errors on site: incorrect mixing ratios. Everything is pre-formulated, so what comes out of the tin is what the product is designed to do.

Pro Tip: Apply in two coats at 90 degrees to each other rather than one thick coat, this gives you more consistent film thickness across the whole surface and reduces the chance of thin spots at roller edges.
