Where Bond It PU30 Wood Glue Gets Used

Not suitable for: Not suitable for bonding non-porous materials such as metals, glass, or plastics without a primer. PU30 relies on moisture to cure, so it is not appropriate for completely sealed environments where no ambient moisture or timber moisture content is present.
Apply a thin, even bead of PU30 to one of the two mating timber surfaces. Lightly dampen the opposing face with water if the timber is particularly dry. Bring the components together and clamp firmly. Clamp pressure should be maintained for a minimum of 30 minutes while the initial set takes place, though full strength develops over several hours.
Keep the nozzle clean between uses and store the tube sealed to prevent premature cure in the applicator. Any foam squeeze-out should be removed while still soft; once cured it will need mechanical removal. Working temperature should be above 5°C for reliable cure.
Ensure both mating surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, or loose material
Cut the nozzle to the desired bead size and load into a standard mastic gun
Apply a thin, even bead of PU30 to one timber surface
Lightly dampen the opposing surface with a damp cloth if working with very dry or kiln-dried timber
Bring the two surfaces together and align immediately
Apply firm clamping pressure and hold for a minimum of 30 minutes
Remove any foam squeeze-out while still soft before it fully cures
Allow full cure before removing clamps and subjecting the joint to load
Does Bond It PU30 work on wet timber?
PU30 is a moisture cure adhesive, so a degree of moisture actually helps the bond. It will perform on damp timber, but surfaces should not be saturated or have standing water on them. Damp is fine, wet through is not.
What is BS EN 204 Class D4 and why does it matter?
BS EN 204 is the European standard for classifying wood adhesives by durability. Class D4 is the highest rating, meaning the adhesive has passed tests for prolonged exposure to water and high humidity. For exterior joinery or any timber that will see regular moisture, D4 is the rating you want.
