Talon MDPE Flexi Hinged Pipe Clips in black are a practical solution for securing MDPE, PEX and PVC pipework in domestic and light commercial plumbing installations. The black hinged pipe clips use a flexible clip design that accommodates pipe diameters within a set upper and lower range, which means one clip size covers slight variations in pipe OD without needing an exact match. That alone saves time when you’re working across different pipe batches.
Made from polypropylene, these clips have a maximum safe operating temperature of 85°C, making them suitable for hot water pipe runs in standard domestic plumbing applications. They are also rated for gas and air conditioning pipework, covering most of the common install scenarios you’ll encounter on site.
Where Talon Flexi Hinged Pipe Clips Fit Into a Plumbing Install
Talon recommends a clip spacing of 500mm along any pipe run. At that interval, the clips comfortably support the natural weight of copper or plastic pipework without putting stress on individual fixings. The hinged design makes fitting straightforward: open, locate onto the pipe, and close. No tools required to clip onto the pipe itself, which keeps the install moving.
The black hinged pipe clips are available in a range of sizes to suit 15mm through to 35mm pipework, and box quantities of 20, 50 or 100 depending on the scale of the job. Buying in a box of 100 makes sense for larger installations where you’ll be running multiple pipe circuits.
One point worth noting: these clips are designed to grip and hold pipe, not to bear additional loads. Do not hang equipment, cables or anything else from the pipe installation secured with these clips. Doing so puts strain on the fixing that it was never designed to take.
Pro Tip: When installing along a long pipe run, snap a chalk line at 500mm intervals before fixing the clips so your spacing stays consistent and the pipe sits level throughout.
