Flexible Hose Tap Connector – 15mm x 1/2 inch – 300mm
£1.29£1.55 EX VATINC VAT
WRAS approved flexible tap connector hose in 300mm length. Stainless steel braided over EPDM with compression fittings to BS EN 1254-2. Rated to 15 bar and 70°C. Suits most kitchen and bathroom taps.
A flexible tap connector hose is one of those fittings that earns its place in every plumber’s bag. Simple enough in theory, but get the wrong one and you’re back to the merchant before the job’s done. This 300mm connector gives you the extra reach that standard rigid fittings can’t offer, making it the go-to choice when tap tails don’t line up neatly with the supply pipework below.
The connector runs 15mm compression on one end and a 1/2 inch BSP fitting on the other, covering the most common tap tail size you’ll encounter on kitchen and bathroom taps throughout the UK. The 300mm length handles the gap between supply pipe and tap tail without needing to reposition anything, which keeps the job clean and saves time under the sink.
Construction and Certification of This Flexible Tap Connector Hose
The hose body is EPDM rubber, chosen specifically because it handles both hot and cold water without deteriorating. EPDM stays flexible over time and doesn’t harden or crack the way cheaper rubber alternatives tend to. Over the top sits a layer of stainless steel braiding, which provides the mechanical protection you need to stop the hose from ballooning under pressure or getting damaged during installation when you’re working in a tight cupboard with a basin wrench in one hand.
Working pressure is rated at 15 bar, which is well above what any domestic or light commercial supply will throw at it. Maximum temperature is 70°C, so it handles hot supplies from combi boilers without issue. The compression ends are manufactured to BS EN 1254-2, the British and European standard for compression fittings in copper tube systems, so you know the connection geometry is correct and the seal will be reliable.
Crucially, this connector is WRAS approved. The Water Regulations Advisory Scheme approval means the materials have been independently tested and confirmed safe for contact with drinking water. On any job connected to the mains, that approval matters, and some water authorities will specifically ask for it. It also tells you the product has been made to a consistent standard rather than being a no-name import with dubious material quality.
Fitting in Tight Spots
The flexible hose tap connector really comes into its own in the situations that would otherwise require creative pipework. Retrofitting a replacement tap where the original was plumbed on a slightly different centre, connecting to tap tails that face awkward angles, or simply making up a length where rigid pipe would mean a fiddly cut and solder joint. For combination bathroom taps or kitchen mixer taps, you’ll typically need two of these, one per supply. Worth adding a second to your basket if that’s what you’re working on.
The 300mm length covers most under-sink installations. If your gap is shorter, the hose can flex to accommodate it without any issue. If you need longer reach, check the 450mm or 600mm variants in the same range.
Pro Tip: When tightening the compression nut, hand-tighten first to seat the olive correctly, then use a spanner for no more than one and a quarter turns. Overtightening will deform the olive and cause a weep that's infuriating to trace later.
