Not suitable for: Not suitable for plastic or push-fit pipe systems without copper pipe adapters. Not intended for compression fitting applications.
Clean the outside of the copper pipe and the inside of the fitting socket thoroughly with wire wool or emery cloth until both surfaces are bright. Apply flux paste to both surfaces before assembling. Hold the fitting in position on the pipe and apply heat evenly to the fitting body with a plumber's torch until the flux begins to activate.
Touch solder to the edge of the socket and allow it to be drawn in by capillary action. A clean joint uses very little solder. Remove the heat, allow to cool undisturbed, and wipe away any excess flux residue once the joint has set. For the threaded end, use PTFE tape or jointing compound on the male thread before making up the connection.
Cut copper pipe cleanly and remove any burrs with a deburring tool or file
Clean the pipe end and the fitting socket with wire wool or emery cloth to a bright finish
Apply flux paste to both the pipe end and the inside of the fitting socket
Push the pipe fully into the fitting socket and check alignment
Apply heat from a plumber's torch to the fitting body, moving the flame to distribute heat evenly
Touch lead-free solder to the joint edge once the flux activates and allow capillary action to draw it in
Remove heat immediately once a complete ring of solder is visible around the joint
Allow to cool without moving the joint, then wipe away flux residue with a damp cloth
Apply PTFE tape or jointing compound to the male thread before connecting the tap tail or valve
Do I need to supply my own solder and flux with end feed fittings?
Yes. Unlike solder ring fittings, end feed connectors contain no integral solder. You will need to apply flux paste to both surfaces before heating and feed lead-free solder into the joint yourself. This gives you full control over the joint but does require the correct materials on hand.
