Metolux 2 Part Styrene Free Wood Filler is a professional-grade, two-part polyester filler designed for repairing wood both inside and outside. As a styrene free wood filler, it removes the sharp solvent smell associated with standard polyester fillers which makes a real difference when you are working in a confined space or on occupied sites. Mix the two components together, apply to the damaged area, and you are ready to sand within 30 minutes at normal temperatures.
The filler is supplied in pre-coloured blends that match common timber tones including Pine, Light Oak, Dark Mahogany, Dark Teak, Light Redwood, and White. This matters on finishing jobs where leaving a filled section noticeably lighter or darker than the surrounding timber is not an option. The colour match is not a substitute for a finishing coat, but it gives you a far better base to stain, varnish, wax, or paint over.
The polyester formulation cures hard and bonds firmly into the timber substrate. It is non-slump, which means it stays put on vertical surfaces and end grain without sagging before it sets useful when you are filling door frames, skirting boards, window sills, or any upright section where a standard filler would slide before you could even put the lid back on the tin.
Where Metolux Styrene Free Wood Filler Works Best
Metolux 2 Part Styrene Free Wood Filler is built to handle the kind of repairs where a one-part filler would either shrink back, crack out, or simply not hold. Rotten sections in external joinery, deep splits in hardwood, large voids in skirting and architrave these are the jobs this product is designed for. The weatherproof formulation stands up to rain, temperature change, and UV exposure without deteriorating, and it includes additives that give the cured filler a degree of flexibility, so it moves with the timber rather than working loose as the wood expands and contracts through the seasons.
Finishing After the Repair
Once cured typically within 30 minutes of mixing the filler sands cleanly without gumming up the abrasive paper. It accepts paint, stain, varnish, and wax without any special priming or sealing. The VOC Class A+ rating means it meets the strictest indoor air quality standards, which matters on school, healthcare, or domestic refurbishment projects where contractors are sometimes required to demonstrate compliance.
Available in three pack sizes 275ml, 770ml, and 3.3L so you can carry a small pack for occasional repairs or stock the larger container when you have a run of window or door work to get through. Mixing ratio is clearly marked, and the consistency is straightforward to work with once you have done it once.
Pro Tip: Apply the filler slightly proud of the surface and let it cure fully before sanding back flush trying to level it wet leads to drag marks and an uneven finish.
