Load the collated brad nails into the magazine of your Paslode or Firmahold gas nailer following the tool manufacturer's guidance. Insert the gas canister as directed, then set the nailer drive depth to suit the timber thickness and substrate before starting.
Position the nailer nose against the workpiece, apply firm contact pressure to engage the safety mechanism, and fire. The T-head will drive flush to slightly below the surface. For skirting and architrave, nail at a slight angle into the backing where possible to improve pull-through resistance.
Select the correct nail length for the timber thickness and substrate — as a general guide, the nail should penetrate the substrate by at least half its total length
Insert the collated nail strip into the nailer magazine with the T-head facing the correct orientation as marked on the tool
Fit the gas canister into the nailer fuel cell housing and close the cover fully
Set the drive depth adjustment on the nailer to match the hardness of the timber being fixed
Press the nailer nose firmly against the workpiece surface to engage the contact safety
Fire the nailer and check the first few nails are driving flush — adjust drive depth if nails are sitting proud or countersinking too deep
