Asbestos disposal bags are not something you want to cut corners on. These red and clear polythene sacks are purpose-made for the safe containment and removal of asbestos waste, complying with UK and UN regulations for hazardous material disposal. The printed warning text on both bags meets legal requirements, so you are covered from the moment the waste goes in.

The system works as a double-bag arrangement. Asbestos material is bagged first in the red inner sack, which is sized slightly smaller to sit neatly inside the clear outer bag. The clear bag then goes over the top, and both are sealed before removal from site. This two-layer approach is the accepted method under UK asbestos waste regulations and helps prevent contamination during handling and transport.

Why the Double-Bag Method Matters for Asbestos Disposal

Both bag sizes are made from heavy-duty polythene with good resistance to tearing and puncturing. The 600mm x 900mm bags are 280 gauge (70 micron) and the larger 900mm x 1200mm bags come in at 200 gauge (50 micron). Neither is flimsy. Asbestos removal work is unforgiving if a bag fails, and these are built to handle the sharp, fibrous material without splitting under normal working conditions.

The smaller size suits lighter removal work and confined spaces. The larger 900 x 1200mm bags are better suited to bigger volumes of sheeting, lagging or loose-fill material. Both sizes are available in boxes of 50 or 100, which makes sense given that licensed removal jobs rarely involve just a handful of bags. Stock up properly rather than running short halfway through a job.
