The Timco nickel hinge screw is one of those fixings that does exactly what it promises without any fuss. Available in sizes from 3.0 x 12mm through to 5.0 x 50mm, these screws are built specifically for hinge applications where the fixing needs to sit flush, stay put, and resist the kind of repeated stress that a door hinge sees day in, day out.

The double countersunk head is worth understanding properly. It reduces the likelihood of head shear, which is a real problem when you are driving screws into dense hardwood or MDF-lined frames. It also assists the countersinking process itself, guiding the head cleanly into the material rather than relying entirely on the substrate to co-operate. Tidy fixing, every time.

What Sets the Timco Classic Hinge Screw Apart

Timco’s patented molecular lubrication is applied during manufacture rather than added as a coating you can wipe off. It reduces insertion resistance, which matters when you are fitting a full run of doors and do not want your wrist giving up before lunch. The lubrication also contributes to corrosion resistance, which is important for door furniture in areas that see humidity or temperature changes.

The 40-degree deep single thread is designed for high pull-out resistance. On a hinge screw, this is arguably the most important performance characteristic. A screw that works loose under repeated load cycling is not just annoying, it is a liability. The sharp point assists initial penetration without pre-drilling in most softwood and medium-density applications, and the surface hardening to 750 HV keeps the drive recess intact under torque, preventing the cam-out and rounding that ruins cheaper screws mid-job.

Nickel Finish

The nickel finish gives a clean, bright appearance that suits most standard hinge hardware. It is not a heavy-duty marine-grade coating, but for interior door fitting and general joinery, it sits well against polished or satin nickel ironmongery without looking out of place.

Simple product, properly made. Box of 200, multiple sizes available.

Pro Tip: When fixing into end grain on door linings, run a 2mm pilot hole first regardless of the sharp point claim, as end grain pull-out resistance drops sharply without one and no thread design fully compensates for that.
