CT1 sealant adhesive is one of those products that earns its place in a tool bag by actually doing what it claims. In a single cartridge, CT1 combines a high-strength structural adhesive with a permanent, flexible sealant — handling jobs that would otherwise need two separate products, mechanical fixings, or both. Whether you are bonding a mirror to a tiled wall, sealing around a roof flashing, or fixing a metal bracket to a concrete surface, CT1 deals with it without fuss.
The clear variant is particularly useful when the finish matters. Unlike grey or white sealants that show against glass or light-coloured surfaces, the clear formulation dries virtually invisible. This makes it a sensible choice for glazing applications, glass splashbacks, shower enclosures, and anywhere the bead itself needs to disappear into the background.
What CT1 Sealant Adhesive Bonds and Seals
CT1 bonds across an unusually wide range of materials. Metals including lead, copper, aluminium and steel all take it well. Glass, mirrors, tiles, concrete, most stones, wood, MDF, polystyrene, fibreglass, and the majority of synthetic materials and plastics are all within its range. The exception list is short: CT1 is not suitable for bonding PP (polypropylene), PE (polyethylene), or PTFE, so if you are working with those materials you will need a different approach. On most stones it will not stain, though testing on a hidden area first is worth doing on porous or light-coloured natural stone.
The adhesive bond CT1 forms is strong enough in many applications to replace mechanical fixings entirely. This matters on jobs where drilling is not an option — think glass, coated surfaces, or substrates where a screw would cause damage or simply would not hold.
Performance in Wet and Outdoor Conditions
CT1 is fully waterproof once cured and can be applied to damp or even wet surfaces, which sets it apart from most sealants that need a dry substrate. This makes it genuinely useful outdoors and in situations where drying the surface first is not practical — gutters, rooflines, and outdoor masonry repairs included. CT1 is also UV-stable and resistant to most chemicals, so it holds up in exposed positions without the discolouration and cracking that affects lower-quality sealants over time.
The formulation is solvent-free, which means no shrinkage after application. What you see when you tool the bead is what you get when it cures. It remains permanently flexible after curing, so it can handle movement and vibration without cracking — useful anywhere two different materials are being bonded together, since different materials expand and contract at different rates.
CT1 is used across a wide range of trades: plumbing, joinery, roofing, glazing, general building, and maintenance work. At this price per cartridge it is a practical choice to keep on the van, ready for the job that does not fit neatly into a single product category.
Pro Tip: CT1 can be applied to wet or submerged surfaces, but for the strongest adhesive bond, clean off any grease or oil first — water will not stop it curing, but contamination will reduce adhesion significantly.
CT1 clear sealant adhesive is used across plumbing, glazing, roofing, joinery, and general construction for jobs that need both bonding and sealing in a single application. Common tasks include fixing mirrors and glass panels without visible fixings, sealing around shower enclosures and bathroom fittings, bonding roof flashings, repairing gutters, and securing tiles or cladding to masonry and metal substrates.
Its ability to cure on damp surfaces makes it particularly useful for outdoor and wet-area repairs where other sealants would fail. Maintenance teams, joiners, plumbers, and roofers all find it a practical option when one cartridge needs to cover multiple material types on the same job.

Not suitable for: CT1 will not bond PP (polypropylene), PE (polyethylene), or PTFE surfaces. Always test on a small hidden area before applying to porous or light-coloured natural stone, as some stones may react differently.
CT1 is applied using a standard sealant gun. Cut the nozzle to the bead size required and apply consistently along the joint or bonding surface. Tool the bead within the open time to achieve a neat finish — a wetted finger or sealant tool works well for this. The clear formulation shows fingerprints and smears during application, so work cleanly and avoid handling the bead once tooled.
For bonding applications, apply CT1 to one surface, press the substrates firmly together, and support or fix them in place while the initial grab develops. Full cure strength builds over 24 to 48 hours depending on temperature, humidity, and bead thickness. Thicker beads take longer to cure through. In cold or dry conditions, curing will be slower.
Ensure surfaces are clean, dry where possible, and free from grease, oil, or loose material
Load the cartridge into a standard sealant gun and cut the nozzle tip to the required bead size
Apply CT1 evenly along the joint or bonding area in a continuous bead
For sealing applications, smooth the bead immediately with a wetted finger or sealant tool
For bonding applications, press both surfaces firmly together and hold or brace until initial grab is achieved
Remove any excess CT1 with a damp cloth before it cures — once cured it is very difficult to remove cleanly
Allow 24 to 48 hours for full cure before applying load or stress to the joint
Can CT1 clear sealant adhesive be applied to a wet surface?
Yes. CT1 is one of the few sealant adhesives that will cure on damp or wet surfaces, making it suitable for gutters, rooflines, and outdoor repairs in poor weather. For bonded joints, remove grease and oil first even if the surface is wet, as contamination will reduce the bond strength.
Does CT1 clear dry completely transparent?
CT1 clear dries to a near-invisible finish, which makes it well suited for glass, mirrors, and light-coloured surfaces where a white or grey bead would show. There may be a very slight translucent haze on thick beads, but on a correctly tooled joint the result is clean and unobtrusive.
Will CT1 replace mechanical fixings entirely?
On many applications, yes. CT1 provides a strong structural bond that eliminates the need for screws, brackets, or additional fixings on a wide range of materials. However, for heavy loads or safety-critical applications, always assess whether additional mechanical support is appropriate alongside the adhesive.
Which materials will CT1 not bond?
CT1 is not suitable for bonding polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), or PTFE. These plastics have a very low surface energy that prevents adhesive bonding without specialist primers or processes. On all other common construction and building materials CT1 performs reliably.
CT1 is a hybrid polymer sealant and adhesive based on SABA technology — a solvent-free formulation that cures through moisture in the air and on the substrate. The cured material is permanently flexible, UV-stable, and resistant to most chemicals and weathering. It does not contain isocyanates and carries no shrinkage characteristics, making the cured bead dimensionally stable. The formulation meets the requirements for use in wet and submerged environments.
