Firmahold Galv+ gun nails are hot dip galvanised collated nails designed for use with first fix nail guns that don’t require a separate gas cartridge. The galvanised coating gives these nails genuine corrosion resistance, making them a solid choice for external timber work, treated timber, and anywhere moisture is a concern. If you’ve been getting through cheap bright nails and watching them rust after a few months, these are a straightforward step up.
Available in six sizes, from 51mm x 2.8mm up to 90mm x 3.1mm, covering the most common first fix requirements. The 90mm option also comes in a ring shank version, which gives significantly better holding power in applications where vibration or timber movement is a factor, such as flooring, decking, and cladding.
Where Firmahold Galv+ Gun Nails Get Used
These nails are used daily across timber frame construction, joinery, and general carpentry. Roof structure work, stud walling, floor boarding, external cladding, and site joinery are all typical applications. The range of sizes means most first fix jobs are covered without needing to switch suppliers. Smooth shank nails are well suited to structural framing and standard joinery. The ring shank variants are better suited where withdrawal resistance matters.
No Gas Required
These are the no-gas version, meaning they work with first fix nailers that use an internal combustion system with a separate fuel cell, or with pneumatic nailers. Not every nail gun works the same way, so it’s worth confirming your tool’s collation type and nail specification before ordering. Firmahold Galv+ nails are designed to work reliably in compatible tools without misfires or jamming when the right size is selected for the gun.
The Galv+ coating offers more than basic electroplated galvanising. These nails are suitable for use with most timber preservatives and pressure-treated timber where standard bright nails would corrode quickly. For any external application or treated timber job, using galvanised nails is the correct approach, not an optional upgrade.
Pro Tip: When using ring shank nails in a nail gun, check your tool manufacturer's guidance first, as some guns have specific compatibility requirements and ring shank nails can occasionally cause feeding issues in tools not set up for them.
