Firmahold JT21/53 staples are light duty galvanised staples designed for use with JT21 and 53-series compatible pneumatic or electric staple guns. They are made from 0.7mm wire and come with a chisel point for clean, consistent penetration into light materials. If you go through staples at any kind of rate, buying in boxes of 1000 makes sense. These JT21 staples are available in three leg lengths: 6mm, 8mm and 10mm, giving you the right depth for the job without overdriving or blowthrough.

The galvanised coating provides a useful level of rust protection, which matters if you are stapling materials that will be exposed to damp conditions or stored in unheated spaces. It is not a heavy-duty marine-grade coating, but for most interior and sheltered exterior applications it will hold up well over time.

What Makes Firmahold JT21/53 Staples Worth Using

The chisel point is one of the more practical features on this type of staple. A sharp chisel point slices into the material cleanly rather than tearing or splitting it, which is important when you are pinning thin fabrics, membranes, or decorative materials where a ragged entry point would show. It also means the staple drives more consistently, with less chance of the crown sitting proud or at an angle.

The flat crown is equally useful. A wide flat crown distributes clamping pressure across a larger surface area, which holds thinner or softer materials more securely without cutting through or bunching. This is particularly noticeable when stapling upholstery fabric, felt, or thin sheeting where a narrow crown would simply tear through under tension.

The 0.7mm wire gauge keeps these in the light duty category, which is appropriate for the applications they are designed for. You are not going to be fixing battens with these, and you should not try to. But for stapling cable runs, pinning vapour barriers, tacking felt, attaching webbing, or securing decorative trim, they perform exactly as expected.

Leg Length Selection

Choosing the right leg length is straightforward. The 6mm staple is best for very thin materials or where you need minimal penetration, such as stapling fabric to a thin board. The 8mm is the most general-purpose option and works well for the majority of light duty tasks. The 10mm gives a bit more bite and is useful where you need a little extra holding power or are stapling into slightly thicker substrates. When in doubt, the 8mm is the one to start with.

These Firmahold JT21 staples are a solid, no-fuss consumable that does its job without drama. At 1000 per box and a low unit price, they are a practical stock item for tradespeople and DIYers alike who run a staple gun with any regularity.

Pro Tip: Always unload your staple gun and test-fire into a scrap piece of the same material before starting a job, so you can set the drive depth correctly without wasting staples or marking the finished surface.
