Invisiweep wall weep vents are designed to do one job well: let water out of a cavity wall without letting anything unwanted back in. Water that builds up behind external masonry has to go somewhere, and if it can’t escape through the perpend joints, it will find its own way out — usually through somewhere you’d rather it didn’t. These vents sit in the vertical mortar joint and provide a clear drainage path while the mesh insert keeps insects, wind-blown debris and the odd curious spider from making themselves at home inside your cavity.
They’re a discreet solution. The name isn’t accidental. Once pointed in and the mortar sets, they’re barely noticeable from a few feet back, which matters on finished elevations where the brickie and the client both care about how the wall looks. Eight colour options — black, blue and black, brown, buff, clear, grey, terracotta, and white — means there’s a reasonable match for most standard brick types and mortar colours without having to squint too hard.
Where Invisiweep Wall Weep Vents Are Typically Used
These vents are most commonly installed at DPC level in new-build cavity walls, above lintels, and at any horizontal flashing point where trapped water needs a reliable exit route. They’re also used in retrofit situations where an existing wall shows signs of damp caused by blocked or absent weep points. Getting the right vent in place early is a lot cheaper than dealing with moisture damage after the fact — a point worth making to anyone who thinks they’re a nice-to-have rather than a necessity.
Colour Matching and Specification
The range of colours means these work across a wide variety of brick types, from pale buff stocks to deep terracotta facings. If you’re not sure which colour to specify, order a small number of options before committing to the full box — the clear variant is a reasonable fallback where matching is genuinely difficult. Supplied in boxes of 50, they’re priced sensibly enough for inclusion in new-build specifications without blowing the budget on what is, let’s be honest, a fairly small component with a fairly important job.
Pro Tip: Install weep vents at no more than 900mm centres along any horizontal DPC or flashing course, and always install at least one at each low point to avoid water pooling behind the outer leaf.
