The zinc mirror screw is one of those fittings that does a very specific job and does it well. As a rough guide: 3/4″ suits thin backboards or lightweight panels, 1″ to 1-1/4″ handles most domestic mirror installations, and 1-1/2″ to 2″ is the choice where you need more thread engagement or you’re fixing through a frame into a solid substrate.
