Paslode F16 16g brad nails are the standard consumable for anyone running a Paslode IM65 or IM50 gas nailer on site. These straight, glue-collated brads are made specifically for those tools and come in packs of 2000 nails with 2 fuel cells included, so you have everything needed for a full working session without digging around the van for a spare cell. Available in eight lengths from 16mm to 63mm, the range covers most internal carpentry and light joinery tasks you will encounter.

The lost head profile is what makes 16g Paslode nails particularly useful for finish work. The head sits flush or just below the surface, so fixings can be concealed with filler or left almost invisible under paint, veneer, or trim. Cabinet fitting, skirting, architrave, beading, and general joinery all benefit from a fixing that does not draw the eye once the job is done. The chisel point helps each nail enter timber cleanly, reducing the risk of splitting finer sections.

Collation, Coating, and Choosing the Right Length

The nails carry a light galvanised coating in the 1 to 3 micron range. That is appropriate for interior timber work where some moisture resistance is useful, such as fixing into frames before a building is dried out. For fully exposed exterior applications or corrosive environments, a heavier coating would be the right call, but for the vast majority of indoor carpentry these are entirely suitable.

Glue collation is the standard format for Paslode gas tools. It holds the nails consistently in the magazine and allows the tool to feed reliably at pace, which on a busy fit-out matters more than it might seem. Misfeeds and stop-start feeding slow a job down and generally test your patience in ways best avoided.

Getting the nail length right is worth a moment of thought. As a general guide, the nail should penetrate the receiving timber by at least two-thirds of its total length for a reliable fix. For 12mm MDF onto a 45mm batten, a 38mm or 45mm nail is the sensible choice. For lighter beading or veneer strips, 16mm or 19mm keeps things tidy without punching through.

Pro Tip: When running multiple lengths on the same job, mark each pack clearly before loading because an IM65 magazine loaded with the wrong length mid-run is an easy mistake to make and a nuisance to clear.
