Where Prodec Precision Edge Masking Tape Earns Its Place

This is a tape aimed squarely at decorators who are working on surfaces that wouldn’t tolerate a standard tape. Freshly plastered walls that have only had one coat of emulsion, previously painted woodwork with a finish that’s a bit fragile, feature walls, delicate wallpaper borders, and similar surfaces where you need masking protection but can’t afford the damage a more aggressive tape would cause. It also works well on glass, UPVC, and powder-coated frames where surface preservation matters.

The tape comes in three widths: 24mm, 36mm, and 48mm, each on a 50m roll. The 24mm is useful for tighter work along architraves and window reveals. The 48mm gives you a bit more coverage on wider surfaces where you want to protect more of the adjacent area without laying additional dust sheets. A Practical Note on Application

Low tack doesn’t mean zero adhesion. Apply it with moderate, even pressure along the edge you’re protecting, but don’t press it down hard along the full width. The seal at the edge is what stops the bleed — the rest just needs to sit flat. And critically, remove it within 24 hours of application. Leave it longer, particularly in warm or sunny conditions, and the adhesive can start to bond more firmly to the surface, which defeats the purpose entirely. Always do a small test on wallpapered surfaces before committing to the full run — painted or heavily textured papers can still be susceptible depending on the existing finish.
