The A3018-280 bi-metal reciprocating saw blade is a 280mm metal cutting blade designed specifically for non-ferrous metals. If you’re cutting aluminium, copper, brass or similar materials on site, this is the blade you want loaded up. The bi-metal construction combines a high carbon steel body with a high speed steel cutting edge — two materials doing two different jobs, which is exactly why it works.

The HCS body absorbs the flex and vibration that would crack a harder blade, while the HSS teeth hold their edge at both low and high operating temperatures. That matters on longer cuts where the blade heats up. A blade that goes dull halfway through a job isn’t saving anyone time or money.

What Makes the A3018-280 Bi-Metal Reciprocating Saw Blade Worth Using

Milled and wavy set (MWS) teeth are the detail that most people overlook, but they’re responsible for the quality of cut you actually get. The wavy set reduces the kerf resistance and keeps the blade tracking straight rather than wandering off-line. The result is a cleaner, more controlled cut through non-ferrous material — less tidying up afterwards, which on a busy job counts for something.

Shatter resistance is another point worth noting. Reciprocating saw blades take a battering, especially when you’re working into awkward angles or pushing the tool harder than you probably should. A blade that flexes rather than snaps is safer and more economical. These blades are built for that kind of work.

Extended Service Life

Because the HSS cutting edge retains its sharpness longer than a standard carbon steel blade, you get more cuts per blade before performance drops off. Over time, and across multiple jobs, that makes a genuine difference to your blade spend. Five blades per box keeps you stocked for a stretch of work without constantly reaching for more stock.

Sold in packs of five, the 280mm length suits most standard reciprocating and sabre saw formats used on site.

Pro Tip: When cutting non-ferrous metals like aluminium with a reciprocating blade, use a slower stroke rate and let the blade do the work — forcing the pace generates heat quickly and kills the HSS edge far sooner than necessary.
