A general purpose silicone sealant that covers the majority of sealing tasks you’ll come across day to day. Unifix’s GP silicone comes with added fungicide, which makes a real difference in bathrooms, kitchens, wet rooms and anywhere else moisture tends to hang around. It bonds to most smooth surfaces and cures to a flexible, waterproof seal that moves with the building rather than cracking away from it.
Offered in five colours — black, brown, clear, grey and white — so you can match the finish without reaching for the paint. Clear is the go-to for glazing and general work where you want the sealant to disappear. White suits bathrooms and kitchens. Grey and brown are useful when you’re working around concrete, stone or timber frames. Black covers darker substrates without looking like an afterthought.
Where General Purpose Silicone Sealant Gets Used
The fungicide additive does more than just prevent mould growth on the surface of the sealant. It helps protect the surrounding substrate in areas that stay damp for long periods. That matters in shower enclosures, around bath panels, behind kitchen units and in utility rooms. On site, you’ll find it useful for sealing window and door frames, expansion joints, roof penetrations and any gap that needs a flexible, weather-resistant finish.
Buying by the box makes sense if you’re running a team, managing multiple plots, or just sick of paying retail prices for one or two tubes at a time. Twenty-four cartridges at this price works out well below what you’d spend at a merchant, and they store cleanly on a shelf until needed. Standard 300ml cartridges fit any skeleton or sausage-compatible gun without adapters.
Flexibility and Long-Term Performance
Silicone outperforms acrylic in wet areas because it stays flexible and doesn’t shrink. Once cured, this sealant won’t go brittle in cold conditions or soften in heat. It’s the kind of product that goes on straight, skins over predictably and doesn’t cause a callback six months down the line because it’s shrunk away from the joint.
Pro Tip: When sealing around a bath, fill it with water before you apply the silicone so the joint cures under load — if you seal it empty, the weight of water later can pull the bead away from the tray or tile edge.
