Firmahold stainless steel angled brad nails are 16 gauge, T-head collated nails made from A2 stainless steel, designed for use with pneumatic angled brad nailers. No gas cartridge required. These stainless steel angled brad nails are the correct specification wherever standard bright or galvanised fixings would corrode, stain, or fail over time. Seven sizes run from 16g x 19mm up to 16g x 64mm, and each box contains 2000 nails.

The T-head profile is what separates brad nails from ordinary straight nails. When driven flush, the head sits within the surface rather than standing proud, leaving only a small witness mark that can be filled or left as-is on painted finishes. For skirting boards, architrave, door linings, and tongue and groove panelling, that clean finish matters. A row of visible nail heads across freshly painted joinery is nobody’s idea of a good day’s work.

Where Firmahold Stainless Steel Angled Brad Nails Are Used

Internally, these are a reliable choice for fixing skirting boards, dado rails, architrave, and panelling where a neat result is needed. Externally, the A2 stainless steel composition prevents the rust bleed and surface staining that occurs with ferrous fixings on hardwood cladding, fascia boards, or any exposed timber over time.

Green oak deserves a specific mention. The high tannin content in green oak is actively corrosive to mild steel, and any non-stainless fixing will corrode quickly, often leaving black streaks down the timber face. Stainless steel is the recognised solution for green oak joinery, oak framing, and similar applications. It is not a premium upgrade — it is simply the right nail for the job.

Nail Specification

The 20 degree collation angle is standard for angled brad nailers and feeds reliably through the magazine. The shank profile is designed for low penetration resistance, so the nail drives cleanly through hardwoods without splitting the timber or stalling the nailer. For joiners working regularly with dense timbers, that reduced drive resistance adds up over a full day. At 16 gauge with a 20 degree angle, these nails are compatible with a wide range of trade pneumatic angled brad nailers.

Pro Tip: When fixing into green oak, always use stainless steel nails from the outset — swapping to stainless after spotting black staining means starting the job again, and the tannin reacts faster than most people expect.
