The C2 Exterior Strong-Fix is a premium exterior woodscrew built for jobs where corrosion is a genuine concern. If you’re fixing decking, cladding, fencing, or external joinery, the standard zinc-plated screw from the bottom of your toolbox isn’t going to cut it long-term. This c2 exterior screw uses a multi-layer coating system: a zinc base layer combined with a silver organic top coat barrier that together deliver 1,000 hours of salt spray resistance. That’s a meaningful figure, not just a number on a box.

The twin-cut point is patented, and it earns its keep. It grabs timber quickly and consistently, which speeds up installation and reduces the risk of the screw wandering before it bites. More usefully, it significantly reduces timber splitting, so you can drive close to board ends without the usual frustration of cracked timber or ruined material. Less pre-drilling on most timber sections, which saves time across a full day’s work.

Underneath the head, ribs are formed into the shank geometry to cut cleanly into the timber surface as the screw seats. The result is a flush, clean countersink without needing to over-torque or come back with a countersink bit. It sits properly first time.

What Makes the C2 Exterior Strong-Fix Worth Using

The dual angle thread is designed for pull-out resistance. The thread geometry changes along the shank to maximise grip in a variety of materials, not just straight-grained softwood. This matters when you’re fixing into engineered timber, hardwood decking, or composite structures where a standard single-angle thread can lose grip over time as the material moves with moisture changes.

Thread coverage is worth noting: all sizes up to and including 75mm are fully threaded. From 80mm upwards, you get 70mm of thread length. That partial thread on longer screws is deliberate — it allows the upper section to draw materials together under clamping force rather than threading into both pieces and locking them apart. A detail that makes a real difference in structural timber connections.

Available in a wide range of sizes from 3.5 x 45mm up to 6.0 x 150mm, with box quantities to suit both occasional exterior jobs and larger ongoing projects.

Pro Tip: When fixing hardwood decking close to board ends, pilot drill at around 75% of the screw diameter to let the twin-cut point do its job without splitting — even with C2's reduced-split geometry, dense hardwoods like ipe or balau need a helping hand.
